The Cynergy4MIE project is an ambitious European initiative designed to transform the Mobility, Infrastructure and Energy (MIE) sectors through a unified and interoperable technology stack. By enabling smart software and high-efficiency electronic components to move seamlessly across systems, the project aims to accelerate product development, reduce costs and strengthen Europe’s position in an increasingly competitive global market. Leveraging cutting-edge sensors, shared digital assets and advanced AI, Cynergy4MIE envisions a future where MIE systems are deeply interconnected—delivering higher performance, greater reliability and enhanced consumer value.
Within this broader framework, Ideas & Motion is actively engaged in SC3: Precise Measurements for Efficient, Reliable and Safe Electric Powertrains in Transportation, contributing to the development of next-generation power electronics. These activities position the company at the forefront of advanced electronics and control solutions for electric mobility.
As part of the project, Ideas & Motion focuses on advancing the precision and reliability of electric powertrains through innovative control strategies supported by multi-physics and quantum-enabled sensors. These sensors measure temperature, current and magnetic fields with exceptional accuracy across a wide frequency range. This capability aligns with a vision of highly efficient electric drives equipped with minimally invasive sensors and compact, high-performance power inverters based on wide-bandgap technologies such as Silicon Carbide and Gallium Nitride. Together, these technologies enable superior performance and improved reliability for automotive electrification.
Applying the company’s modular approach to power-inverter hardware development, the project activities cover all the design steps from concept to validation on a physical demonstrator:
- Detailed analysis of system requirements
- Architectural definition of the power-electronic structure, with strong focus on safety compliance
- Design of power electronics and advanced filtering techniques, adapting to different semiconductor technologies, ensuring flexibility and interoperability across platforms while maximizing efficiency, system reliability and conformity to EMC regulation
- Development of advanced control algorithms based on innovative sensors and state-of-the-art software strategies to enhance motor performance and system efficiency
- System integration and testing on physical demonstrators, to assess the performance and validate the solution on a test bench representative of real operating conditions
Through its contributions to the Cynergy4MIE project, Ideas & Motion is helping lay the foundations for safer, more efficient, and more sustainable electric powertrains—reinforcing Europe’s competitive position in the global mobility landscape.
